An important function when modeling graphics is the transfer of properties by assigning viflow objects (Insert tab – viflow – Assign viflow Object).
- Application example: In a process graphic, you use an object as a branching shape ("Construction OK?") that is to be replaced by another object ("Prototype OK?").
- Normal procedure: The shape is removed from the graphic and replaced by another or new object ("Prototype OK?").
- Procedure with viflow – Assign viflow Object: The shape is retained, only the "content" with all properties is replaced.
- Advantage: There is no need to remove the shape from the graphic and thus place a new shape with reconnecting all connectors. In addition, the formatting of the original shape is retained, so that individual changes (eg color or line width) do not have to be carried out again.
How to transfer the properties
- Mark the object in the graphic to which the properties of another viflow object are to be assigned.
- On the Insert tab, click the Assign viflow Object button .
The Assign Object (here: Process ) window opens. - Enter the first few letters (or part of the name) of an existing object or enter the name of the new object.Select the object from the list and confirm with OK.
- The properties of the selected object have been assigned to the previous object/shape. The shape in the graphic remains unchanged.
